AI Has Some Weird Ideas About Wyoming

I asked Facebook META AI to create some Wyoming photos for me.

As you might imagine, some of it came out kind of weird.

First I just asked for a Wyoming Man.\

What I got was just a generic guy wearing a cowboy hat.

His face looks typically weathered, as if he had spent his life outside, working in the elements.

I would say META AI got this first one right.

Just for the fun of it I asked again.

Things go weird.

Why the HELL is this guy standing next to a BULL and the BULL has a saddle?

Does AI think that is something we do here in Wyoming?

Come to think of it, maybe it should be something we do.

Okay, so how about a Wyoming woman?

The first image I got was of a young, pretty girl, wearing a cowboy hat.

Nice, but try again AI.

Let's have some more detail.

I would say that AI nailed it the second time.

Then things got weird.

I decided to make bolder requests of the AI.

So, let's see a Space Alien in Wyoming

The problem with the first picture it generated was that this alien could be in one of several states, like Nevada.

Not good enough AI.

I want people to know, when they look at this photo, that it's a space alien standing in Wyoming.

The trick with AI is to just keep asking until it gives you something that is close enough.

In the second photo, it provided a deer next to the alien.

Look closely and you'll see the deer has the "HELP ME" expression on its face.

Okay, one last time META AI.

I'm looking for a space alien in Wyoming.

I don't want to keep asking.

Let's see something that makes people think of this state.

OH HECK YEAH!

This one nailed it.

The alien looks like a DEVIL alien.

And it's standing in front of a young Devils Tower.

Nice one AI.

Not so far-fetched when you realize that Wyoming has at least two alien space ports that are officially registered with the federal government and operate to this day.

Not kidding.

Many stories have been written about Wyoming's Green River Intergalactic Space Port.

In past articles, I've pointed out that Wyoming has two spaceports. Don't forget Devils Tower.  The "documentary" Close Encounters Of The Third Kind is well known.

You can look up the Green River Intergalactic Space Port on any map.

But did you know you can look it up on a special map made just for pilots?

Look for that map, below, in this story.

Let's back up to see how this spaceport came to be.

Much like the invention of the Jackalope in Douglas Wyoming, which is now world-famous, the Green River Space Port was said to be an interplanetary humanitarian effort to save potential lifeforms on Jupiter.

The planet was being bombarded by the remnants of a comment at the time.

What began as tongue-in-cheek by the local city council is now officially recognized on aeronautical charts.

Yeah, that's right, the FAA has a sense of humor.

Then again, anyone from Jupiter is welcome, for real.

Just, nobody from the giant planet has taken them up on it.

This odd-looking map below is called a Sectional Chart. It's used by pilots.

Let's zoom in to the Green River area to see what the FAA has named that little dirt and gravel strip locals call the  Green River Intergalactic Space Port. 

You notice an airport identifier of 48U. Not really a clever name. It just helps pilots to find it when using electronic maps or planning a flight.

Cheyenne's airport identifier is KCYS. Casper's is KCPR. The Rock Springs airport is identified as KRKS.

BUT HOLD ON!

What's that written above 48U?

Well, I'll be....

Some years ago the FAA officially recognized that little green river airport as GREEN RIVER INTERGALACTIC.

Digging a little deeper into the official FAA listings, they do include SPACE PORT in their write-up. They just did not care to write it all out on the map, to save space.

So, there you go, It's official.

The only officially recognized Intergalactic Spaceport on Earth.
