Alien Monolith Taken Down By Colorado Land Owner
Perhaps inspired by the movie 2001 A Space Oddosy, unusual monoliths have been mysteriously appearing around the country.
But one landowner in Colorado was not amused when it appeared on his property on June 23.
This past Wednesday, July 3rd, she removed it.
The Coloradoan was the first to report the monolith's appearance.
"The final decision to remove it was the overwhelming influx of people who came to see it,'' Lori Graves, who owns the property with husband Rob Graves, told the Coloradoan on Wednesday morning. "If the creator would like to have it back, they can email the cafe. We will keep it but are not sure what we are going to do with it.''
Workers cut the bolts that attached a monolith to a concrete slab in Bellvue, northwest of Fort Collins, CO.
This makes a person wonder how something like this can be erected without anyone noticing.
Lori Graves said the structure was bringing in lookers who were wrecking his land and leaving trash.
She estimated 800 to 1,500 people came to view the monolith last week.
It might not have been so bad if those curious people had been a bit more respectful of the land that they were on.
But the structure might have disappeared soon, anyway.
The monoliths are long vertical slabs of metal, each 10 to 12 feet tall.
They appear without warning and disappear shortly after.
The first one was seen in the Utah desert, which emerged on November 18 and vanished on November 27.
The second was outside the Romanian city of Piatra Neamt, which appeared on November 27 and disappeared on December 2.
The third appeared at the top of Pine Mountain in Atascadero, California. It was spotted on December 2, was taken down on December 3, and reappeared on December 4.
The fourth was in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on December 7 and vanished the same day.
