Cheyenne Wyoming Aviation Festival, September 13 & 14
The Cheyenne regional airport began at the edge of town. Now it sits in the middle of Cheyenne, Wyoming, as the town has grown up around it.
It saw the likes of Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh. It was a major stop along the way for the first airmail route in America, which was flown by WWI surplus biplanes. The airport did its part in WWII by placing tail guns on bombers. It's hosted fighter squadrons, national guard units, and has seen its share of presidents. The Cheyenne airport trained the first commercial airline stewardesses in the world.
To commemorate this and so much more, here comes The 2025 Wyoming Aviation Festival and Airshow, September 13 & 14 in Cheyenne!
Wyoming has a rich and varied aviation history. We are an education and fundraising organization. Wyoming does not yet have an aviation museum representing Wyoming as a whole; we hope to change that!
September 13 & 14; 10 am - 4 pm daily
Entry to airshow and static display $10/adult
Entry to close-in parking $20 cash or $25 card/vehicle
This year is our second annual aviation festival. We will have an airshow, aircraft static display, vendors, aviation history presentations, and more.
Come on out to the former 1960 Terminal at 300 E. 8th Avenue in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The history of the Cheyenne, Wyoming Airport, also known as Jerry Olson Field, began in the late 1920s as a mail and passenger hub, with a passenger terminal built in 1929.
It evolved into a significant World War II aircraft modification center and the home of United Airlines' stewardess school before technological advances made stops in Cheyenne less necessary for air travel.
Today, the airport has grown to over 1,000 acres, hosts the Wyoming Army National Guard, and serves as a base for businesses like Cheyenne Airmotive and the headquarters of Great Lakes Aviation, as well as Wing Of Wyoming flight school.
