When Harrison Ford Saved That Boyscout In Yellowstone?
During a Boy Scout camping trip in 2001, a 13-year-old Boy Scout named Cody Clawson got lost in Yellowstone National Park.
After reaching the campsite with his group, he hiked back to where the vehicles were parked to bring in more supplies.
That's where he got turned around and confused.
Cody spent more than 18 hours in the wilderness.
Imagine his panic as it got dark.
As if things could not get worse, storm clouds began to build, and soon Cody was caught in a major thunderstorm.
Lightning illuminated a small cave, and Cody ran into it to take shelter.
The next morning, Cody woke to the sound of a helicopter that seemed to be crisscrossing over the trees.
This kid is a Boy Scout. He has training.
He took off his belt and used the metal buckle to reflect sunlight at the helicopter.
The pilot must have seen it because he came back and began hovering lower and lower over the treeline.
Cody ran out to an open area.
The pilot landed. Cody ran over, swung open the door, and jumped in.
The pilot looked at him, smiled, and said, "Good morning."
Clawson was rescued by the last person he would ever expect: the actor Harrison Ford.
You better believe Cody is telling this story all these years later and will be until his dying day.
When word got out that Cody was missing, there was a call to local pilots to help in the search.
Mr. Ford has a home just south of where Cody was lost. He is a pilot who flies various types of aircraft, including helicopters.
Cody is not the only person Harrison Ford has rescued in that area.
