It's around 2 am and someone is fishing at the local city lake in Casper, Wyoming.

It's an odd time to fish, but... okay.

The problem is that the lake is closed from 12 am to 6 am.

So the police arrive wondering what this guy is really up to.

The exchange between the officer and the man who wanted to fish starts off pleasant enough.

Two videos are below. The raw video from the police department and the YouTubers review.

This event was posted 1 year ago by the Casper Police Department.

The man claims he did not know the park was closed and was carrying a fishing pole.

The police officer asks for ID, which is standard practice.

The fisherman is not from around Casper.

The exchange continues, cordially.

As the officer is talking to the fisherman, he gets a bite on his line.

The officer tells him he can go ahead and reel it in. WHY NOT?

Below is the YouTuber's review. I think it's fair.

The guy caught a nice big catfish.

But while that happened, the officer found an active warrant against the fisherman.

The fisherman casually puts down his rod and reel with the fish on it- AND RUNS!

Two officers are now in pursuit.

One of the officers yells, "GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR POCKETS NOW!"

Shots are fired.

You can see what appears to be a weapon in the hand of the fisherman.

Officers fire back.

The chase ends with the fisherman down and an ambulance being called.

You'll see this video from the body cameras of the two officers, one after the other.

Probably the most disturbing part of the video is when the fisherman is down on the ground and he rolls over and tries to point his gun at the officer.

You'll see the officer unload his magazine into him.

In all the commotion the suspect was hit three times.

Officers provide aid and cuff him as more officers and an ambulance arrive.

The man did not survive his gunshot wounds.

A Little Wyoming School House Preserved In Time

The little hamlet of Slater Wyoming has preserved on of their last two remaining buildings with all the love they feel for it.

There was once a tiny town on this spot.

Most everything is gone except the schoolhouse and the community building.

I stopped by one Saturday morning and the locals were more than happy to let us in to have a look.
