Where You Can Safely Pet Wyoming’s Fluffy Cows
Every year, we tell you stories about tourists trying to pet the fluffy cows and how much they regret it later. We warned them. They can't say they were not warned.
But did you know that there is a place where it is perfectly safe to pet Wyoming's famous bison? It's safe because it's supervised. In other words, there are professionals there to prevent stupid people from doing stupid things.
ALSO - the bison here are NOT living in the wild as they do in Yellowstone. They are much more used to people touching them.
Terry Bison Ranch in Cheyenne, Wyoming, actually advertises itself as a place where you can pet the fluffy cows safely.
One of Cheyenne's most unique attractions! Take a tour on one of Terry Bison Ranch's custom-built trains to see ostriches, a huge bison herd, and actually hand-feed the bison! Tours are every day except Christmas Day.
Stop by the Trading Post gift shop for unique gifts, buffalo meat, and activity sign-up. The ranch also has a RV park and cabins available all year. The Senator's Steakhouse serves buffalo burgers and steaks year-round.
That means you can eat the bison that people have been petting. Just think about that for a moment. You're saying things like "AWW" and petting them, then you eat them. That is about as American as it gets.
Terry Bison Ranch is located just 7 miles south of Cheyenne off I-25. The 27,500-acre ranch is home to approximately 2500 head of American Bison.
They have more than just bison there. You can hand-feed the camels, too. At least it is all safe, protected, and supervised.
For those who want to get mauled by a real wild one, we recommend Yellowstone. Enjoy your hospital stay,
