The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has updated information on a blast of extremely cold temperatures and severe wind chills that are expected to hit southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle starting Wednesday night.

A Tuesday morning email from the agency included the following comments:

 

  • A strong cold front will bring dangerously cold air to all of southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska. Moderate
  • Wind chills lower than -40F to potentially -70F are expected over a large area on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. High
  • A Flash Freeze event is likely when the cold front sweeps through the area on Wednesday, with snow squalls being a possible hazard. High
