The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service as of 6 a.m. Tuesday had Cheyenne listed under a Winter Storm Warning.

The agency said that while snow should taper off today, Cheyenne could see wind chills of -15 on Wednesday.

The agency had the Buford and Vedauwoo as well as the Arlington areas under a Ground Blizzard Warning that is scheduled to take effect at 2 p.m. The agency said that winds of up to 60 miles per hour in those areas could create ground blizzard conditions, with poor visibility and blowing snow.

Laramie was under a Winter Weather Advisory as of 6 a.m. Laramie is also in line for wind chills as low as -15 today and tomorrow.

The agency posted this statement on its website:

Snow will continue to decrease in coverage and intensity over the next several hours, with very little in the way of any additional accumulation expected this morning. Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect until 2 PM MST this afternoon, but may be cancelled early as conditions warrant. Although snow is expected to end by mid-day, expect a significant increase in wind speeds across Arlington and the I-80 Summit area near Buford and Vedauwoo later this afternoon through tonight. Wind gusts up to 60 MPH will combine with the fresh snow pack to yield significant blowing and drifting snow and potential ground blizzard conditions in these areas. For that reason, a Ground Blizzard Warning has been issued for Arlington and the I-80 Summit from 2 PM MST today until 2 PM MST Wednesday.

The 10 Commandments For Winter Driving in Casper

The town of Casper has its unique challenges during the winter. We have no-plow streets, the wind changes the winter landscape hourly, and the plows leave mountains of snow in the middle of the road. We are also blessed with some great people that are willing to give a helping hand when needed. These are the unspoken rules of the road here in Wyoming.
