CAUTION: The video below might give the impression that wild animals are cute, cuddly, and want to play with you.

In Colorado a passing elk stops to play ball with some kids.

They do play and they are cute. But they will still KILL YOU if spooked.

This video shows a couple of kids in their backyard playing with a ball when an elk stops to join in the game.

You'll hear someone say that the elk knows exactly what it's doing, and it does.

The ball is thrown and kicked to the animal who prances around, playing with it, before kicking it back.

The elk then waits, hopefully, for the ball to be returned for another round of fun.

It's nice to see this connection between humans and nature.

At the same time, we have to remember that these animals can and will cause a lot of harm to humans.

Videos like this one are part of the reason tourists show up to Wyoming thinking they can hug a bull bison and take a selfie with it.

Let's review the wise words of Hank Patterson as he explains how to survive Yellowstone.

We here in Wyoming post videos like this every year around tourist season, hoping it will do some good.

But every year we watch the carnage and count the bodies on the way to the hospital.

Honestly, how many signs do we need to post in the park?

I think from now on we should change those signs to read,

GO FOR IT!

WHAT COULD GO WRONG?

Devils Tower As Seen From The Mother Ship

If you've see the movie (documentary) Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, then you know what it looked like to see "The Mother Ship" descending down to Devils Tower.

But what did it look like from the Mother Ship's point of view?

We don't have any actual photos from the Mother Ship

So we recreated the scene using Google Earth and one Nasa Photo.
