Have you been feeling that perhaps winter forgot Wyoming this time?

It's been happening all around us, but our state has not been participating.

It has been a simple matter of a series of high-pressure systems that parked themselves over the cowboy state, one after the next, forcing all that cold and show around.

But that wasn't going to last forever.

Welcome to January 2025.

Those high-pressure systems have moved on and Wyoming finally gets to share winter with the rest of the nation.

Nothing as bad as the blizzard on the country's eastern side right now.

But don't worry, we will get one of two of those, eventually.

As we begin the second week of the new year, daytime highs have dropped into the 20s and 30s.

Expect most nights in the teens.

Light snow showers will powder us every so many days.

That annoying wind will come and go.

The good news for the mountains is that they have already received a good amount of snow, and more is on the way.

Wyoming depends on that snowpack to get the state through its summer dry months.

Looking up into the arctic north meteorologists can see a series of low-pressure systems lined up, ready to swoop down on us, one after the next.

It's not all bad.

We have sunny days on the way. Cold but not windy.

Then another low rolls our way giving us several miserable cold days, then back to sunshine again.

For those of you who have been wanting to go skiing, snowmobiling, or ice fishing, you'll have plenty of opportunities over the next few months.
