Does Buying 8 Tubes of Toothpaste on Vacation Make Me Weird?
By reading the title of this article, I am pretty sure you already think that I am weird, but hear me out. I bought eight tubes of toothpaste on my recent vacation. They're not just any tubes of toothpaste, they're Italian tubes of toothpaste and I am absolutely obsessed with this brand. They're known as Marvis.
On Black Friday as most were getting ready to do their holiday shopping, my wife and I were heading to the airport to catch a flight to Rome, Italy. It was time for a vacation. It was also time for a re-do on our last Eurotrip as COVID cut it short.
For our first-ever trip to Italy in 2020, I started looking at what I could, couldn't, should, and shouldn't bring back as mementos of our time abroad. One article that I found was about this Italian toothpaste called Marvis. The person who wrote the article raved about it. I knew I had to give it a try.
In March of 2020, we landed in Rome, took a taxi to our hotel, and then hit the town. One of the very first things I did in Italy was purchase this toothpaste at a little Farmacia. From that moment forward, this has been the only toothpaste that has graced my mouth.
Every time I do my morning and evening routine, it takes me back to the heart of Rome brushing my teeth on the terrace with this toothpaste for the first time. After returning from our short-lived trip to Italy, I began the search for this toothpaste in the states. I was lucky enough to find it on Amazon, but it came at a premium price at $10.50 a tube. Naturally, I wanted to hold on to this feeling of dental magic, so I happily paid the piper for two minutes of toothbrushing bliss.
This last trip, I knew that I absolutely had to buy more. Marvis, the brand that makes the toothpaste is produced in Florence, Italy comes in a highly detailed foil embossed box and has a variety of different flavors to choose from. Those flavors include Whitening, Aquatic, Jasmin, Amarelli Licorice, Cinnamon, and my personal favorite, Classic Strong.
I really wanted the opportunity to try a few of the other flavors aside from the Classic Strong, but sadly, was only able to find the Cinnamon Mint in the travel-sized tubes. I was hoping to purchase the Aquatic, Whitening, and the Royal limited edition line... They were all sold out at every store we stopped into. Maybe one day, when we return to Italy I will be able to get these flavors. In the meantime, I will keep enjoying the minty freshness of the Marvis Classic Strong.
If buying eight tubes of toothpaste while on vacation makes me a total weirdo, that's okay with me. I wouldn't want to be normal and miss out on being a huge fan of Marvis toothpaste.
