The southwest corner of Wyoming is one of the most remote places in North America.

If you decided to drive down there, what would you see?

At 41°N 111°W, this spot 23 miles east of Coalville, Utah, is the site of an 1873 boundary marker surveyed by AV Richards.

In the video below, our host and tour guide takes us to a place that most of us would have no interest in going.

So, let's travel by video, shall we?

Most of the road out that way is straight.

Maybe a turn or two, but not much.

Get your camera and take a picture of the only thing out there.

Because there is nothing else to see.

Though the view is nice.

That market is the corner of the states between Utah and Wyoming.

There is a fence in the area that is not exactly on the state line. So what's going on there?

There was a Supreme Court ruling that said these markers formed the official state boundaries, even if they were off slightly.

Surveyors did not have GPS back then. They did the best they could with what they had.

YUP - There you go!

Now what?

The above video is actually interesting as our host looks at who owns what land around the marker.

But now I've saved you the trouble of driving all the way out there to see what is on that corner of these two states.

NOTHING!

You're welcome.

Reading The Past - Chugwater Wyoming Newspaper

These pages of the old Chugwter Wyoming newspaper show us coverage of the region from back in the 1940s.

There was little local news, other than the war.

But what was published at the time was important to the people of the area.

It was, in most case, the only news they had from outside their little ranch or town.
