Lt. Col. Nicholas Petren, the commander of the 90th Security Forces Squadron at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, has been relieved of his position.

The Public Affairs Office said late Monday afternoon that Col. Damian Schlussel, the commander of the 90th Security Forces Group, relieved Petren "due to a loss of confidence in his ability to maintain a healthy command climate."

"The Air Force values and encourages a positive work atmosphere where all airmen are treated with dignity and respect and cannot condone leadership actions that do not uphold these ideals," the office said in a statement.

The office says a temporary commander has been appointed until a permanent replacement is in place, and Petren has been assigned to another position on base until he's due to rotate to another duty location.
