It starts with a little story about an 80-year-old man named Forrest Fenn was and why he hid the treasure.

The series introduces us to some of the most eccentric people in the chase and their obsession with the hunt.

People died searching for treasure in places that Fenn, carrying a heavy box full of gold, probably never could have even gotten to.

There are stalkers, death threats, and news media gone crazy.

As expected, there were wild conspiracy theories and even podcasts dedicated to them.

Code busters dove way too deep and only led themselves farther away from where the treasure was.

In the end, the solution was simple: Fenn hid the treasure near a place where, as a boy, he often went fishing with his father. It was all about his favorite childhood memories.

There were a couple of treasure hunters who figured this out. One of them was about 200 feet from where it was hidden, but he did not see the box.

No, we are not.

Some were so attached to their treasure obsession that they literally did not know what to do with their lives next.

Queries were sent to Fenn's lawyer asking if he had left them anything in his will. Why the hell would he have done that?

One couple was confronted, late at night, out in front of Forrest Fenn's house, just walking back and forth. When asked what they were doing, the man broke down and asked what he was supposed to do in the wake of the treasure being discovered.

The ending of this series is a positive one, showing the people who were helped by the Fenn treasure hunt and showing what eventually happened to all that loot.

Plus one treasure hunter who decided to make another box, like the one that Fenn hid, to start the fun all over again.
