Gray Responds To Gordon, ‘Do you want to step outside?’
Roughly a week ago, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon asked Secretary of State Chuck Gray if he would like to step outside. The invitation must be taken in context to understand what was really going on.
Secretary Gray has decided to respond with his side of the story, which you can read in the statements below.
Earlier this week, Secretary Gray released the following statement responding to Governor Mark Gordon's Behavior at the SBLC meeting. Secretary Gray also called for the ending of both the Pronghorn and Sidewinder wind leases. Secretary Gray said, "It is unfortunate that rather than discussing these important issues, Gordon keeps resorting to incorrect statements, and now trying to use a fake tough guy persona when Gordon’s actions actually prove him to be the weakest man in the room. Rather than actually debating the issues, Gordon used the “step outside” line that Biden used on multiple occasions to try to distract from the real issues. Gordon is again using the tactics of the Left. I plan to bring another motion to end the wind lease at the next meeting of the board.”
Below is the story as originally posted on this website.
Also, below is the video of the exchange so you can see the entire watch it in context and judge for yourself.
Amy Edmonds, spokesperson for the governor, told Cowboy State Daily after the meeting that, “It’s clear the secretary was making sweeping statements that many were struggling to understand.
"One thing was clear — the motion made by the secretary of state was out of order and could have thrown the entire work of the board on behalf of the people in jeopardy.”
Edmonds then clarified that Gordon didn’t want to physically fight Gray.
“The governor wished only to step outside and have a conversation with the secretary to try and understand his points,” Edmonds said.
Do you want to step outside? (Governor Mark Gordon).
Are you threatening me? (Secretary Of State Chuck Gray).
No, I'm asking you if you want to step outside (Gov Gordon).
The two men were having a disagreement, as they usually do, and as we have seen many times here in the state of Wyoming. They were talking over each other, and tensions rose.
Watch the exchange in the video below and decide for yourself what is going on here. 5:34:27 into the video time.
The exchange took place at the Douglas Library during a public discussion about a proposed wind project near the northern Laramie Range.
Gray was asking for a motion to recind the wind project. The motion was ruled out of order because it was only a public comment meeting, not one where decisions are made.
The special meeting brought residents opposed to the 267 wind turbine project.
The governor and the secretary have jousted before in public meetings. It is no secret that Mr. Gray is not a fan of Governor Gordon and is often bluntly outspoken about it.
During one such meeting last year, the governor looked at Mr. Gray and said, "I get it you don't like me."
After the cross words during this Douglas meeting, they got on with the rest of the business, but the tension was in the room and was not going to change.
