Hageman Cancles In-Person Town Halls Over “Democrat Threats”
Since Wyoming's Representative Hariete Hageman took office, she has held 75 town hall meetings in communities of all sizes.
She loves talking with the people of Wyoming.
But threats of violence have caused those town halls to be put on hold or even switched over to video meetings.
Her next two town halls were to be held in Cheyenne and Torrington
Those will now be held virtually, by video, because of “Democrat threats of violence.”
“As the saying goes, ‘This is why we can’t have nice things,’” Hageman said in a released statement. “I am proud of my record of holding dozens and dozens of town halls — 75 of them in just three years, at least three times in each of Wyoming’s 23 counties.
“And the only times we have had any problems with safety have been at two of the six held in the last week.”
Hageman's last town hall, held in Laramie, Wyoming, was repeatedly interrupted by loud protesters.
She stayed on the stage for over an hour and engaged the crowd, showing, once again, that the congresswoman is not easily intimidated.
Republican Town Hall meetings across America have been interrupted by loud protesters, most of whom, it has been found, were not from the town or state they were protesting in.
Threats of violence are not just dangerous to the congresswoman but to the rest in attendance.
Hageman reported that her staff in Washington, D.C.
“have received numerous, credible threatening phone calls and emails, currently being investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies.”
“I thank our wonderful law enforcement community for their willingness to support the public and myself while participating in our government process,” Hageman added. “It has become apparent, however, that the continuation of in-person town halls will be a drain on our local resources due to safety concerns for attendees.”
