Wyoming is not exactly a wet state.

There are some states, like Florida, that have so many lakes it's impossible to memorize all of their names.

Water has always been a precious commodity in this part of the country.

Most of the lakes that Wyoming has today are man-made.

The number of lakes we have is small enough that you can remember them all.

How many do you think you can name?

This first list does not include reservoirs and ranch stock ponds—just actual lakes.

Alcova On Ice

One of Wyoming's most beautiful lakes, seen after weeks of winter storms and sub-zero temperatures.

The ice can be heard making strange noises, from snap, crackle, and pop, to glub glub.

The works of people talking in a normal tone of voice carry across the frozen surface.
