SAN JOSE, Calif., -- There's finally some good news on the injury front.

Wyett Ekeler, after missing the previous two games with a pair of broken thumbs, will make his return to the Wyoming secondary today at San Jose State, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Ekeler, a 5-foot-11, 210-pound Windsor, Colo., product currently sits atop the depth chart.

Fellow senior safety Isaac White (foot/ ankle) is dressed, but will only play in case of an emergency situation, that same source said. Wrook Brown will move back to the nickel spot after filling in at safety in last week's 27-24 loss to San Diego State.

Also hearing guards Jack Walsh and Wes King, who did practice this week, will attempt to give it a go against the Spartans. Redshirt freshman Quinn Grovesteen-Matchey is listed as the starting left guard on the depth chart. Rex Johnsen is still tabbed as the starter on the right side.

Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel said last Monday he expected weakside linebacker Connor Shay to miss this one because of a shoulder injury. The senior is also currently listed in today's starting lineup.

Wyoming (1-5, 1-1) and San Jose State (4-2, 2-1) are slated to kickoff at 2 p.m. today inside CEFCU Stadium. The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

PREGAME:

* It's unseasonably warm today in San Jose, according to numerous locals I spoke to on the way into the stadium. It's a picture-perfect 73 degrees and there isn't a cloud in the sky.

* Wyoming will rock its brown pants today for the first time since the season opener at Arizona State. It's a nice contrast to the Spartans' yellow britches.

* It's homecoming at San Jose State. You'd never be able to tell by the crowd size. There are tens and tens of people in attendance so far inside CEFCU Stadium.

* Fullback Caleb Driskill is on kick coverage with a cast on his right hand. You guessed it -- thumb.

FIRST QUARTER:

* Eget goes right at Wyett Ekeler on the long ball. The Pokes' senior hit with a PI.

* Eget to Nash for 21 on a 3rd-and-9. We'll probably hear that plenty today

* That was way too easy. Terrible tackling, equally bad angles. Chalk with a 39-yard burst.

* That was a 5-play, 75-yard drive that took all of 1:15 off the clock. SJSU 7 Wyoming0 13:45/ 1Q

* Offensive line with great protection on that 3rd-and-5. Svoboda hits Gyllenborg on a 19-yard gain.

* Big 4th down pickup right there for Svoboda. Pokes driving here, down to the SJSU 33

* Sam Scott stopped short on a 4th and 1. You have to pick up a yard right there. You just have to.

* Tyrecus Davis comes screaming off the edge and blocks the field goal. Pokes will take over here at their own 29.

* Svoboda throws a strike to Durr on 3rd and 9. Ball at the UW 43

* Jamari Ferrell with arguably his best run of the season -- 14 yards -- then gets hit for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for trash talking on the sideline. Unbelievable .

* Wyoming had the ball for 10:04 in the first quarter. The visitors were also 2-of-4 on third down and converted a fourth down

SECOND QUARTER:

* Pokes can't pick up a 3rd and less than 1 near midfield. Why they don't stick with Svoboda following Scott into the hole, I'll never know. Scott was caught dancing in the backfield, waiting for a hole to open.

* *FUMBLE* Tyrecus Davis with another big play. This time he catches up with SJSU QB Walker Eget and forces the fumble after a 32-yard run. Pokes will take over at their own 8. That's the third turnover of the season for this D

* Really bad possession there for the visitors. Punting from his own end zone, Jack Culbreath boots a 31-yarder. SJSU will take over at Wyoming's 36. Really ugly few minutes here from the Cowboys

* It feels like it's 30-0

* *INTERCEPTION* Guess who? Wyett Ekeler, with two broken thumbs, picks off the lob from Eget. Pokes will take over at the 23. SJSU 7 Wyoming 0 8:49/ 2Q

* *FUMBLE* SJSU is trying like hell to give this one to the Cowboys. Carson York jumps on the loose change at the SJ 35 after the muffed punt. That's three turnovers today for the Spartans with 6:07 to go in the first half

* A screen pass on 3rd-and-16 leads to a 10-yard loss. Now the Cowboys are out of FG range. Svoboda needs to learn when the play is DOA. That one was. Ball should've never been thrown.

* This Spartans' drive started at their own 3. One pass later, they are at midfield. Eget to Lockhart for 47. We're at the 2-min warning.

* Wyoming has just 102 yards of total offense -- 37 pass, 65 rush -- in this one despite forcing three turnovers. SJSU 7 Wyoming 0 2:00/ 2Q

* Nick Nash with the way-too-easy touchdown snag from 17 yards out. That's the former QB's 11th touchdown grab of the season. Cowboys give up seven with 21 ticks remaining in the half. SJSU 14 Wyoming 0

* That was an 11-play, 97-yard drive that took just 1:52. Eget to Nash from 17 yards out.

* This offense needs a spark. SJSU wasn't afraid to go away from Emmett Brown. Wyoming shouldn't think twice about starting Anderson here in the second half.

THIRD QUARTER:

* Welp, Svoboda has his helmet on and is warming up. Anderson does not

* SJSU getting hit with a PI here. That bails the Cowboys out on a 3rd and 12.

* *INTERCEPTION* Wrook Brown picks off the batted ball. That's turnover No. 4 for the Spartans. Eget has been picked off twice. SJSU 14 Wyoming 0 10:18/ 3Q

* Connor Shay credited with the tipped ball that Brown picked off.

* Back-to-back completions for Svoboda. He hit TK King for 16 and now Gyllenborg for 22. Pokes are inside the SJSU 20

* *TOUCHDOWN* Beautiful pitch and catch from Svoboda to Stevenson. That looked right. Cowboys are finally on the board. SJSU 14 Wyoming 7 8:33/ 3Q

* That was an 18-yard hookup from Svoboda to Stevenson. That capped a 5-play, 55-yard drive. Cowboys finally take advantage of a turnover.

* Lockhart just dusted Tyrecus Davis. Yet another big gainer for the Spartans. That one was good for 57 and they are in biz at the 9

* Nick Nash just dropped a sure touchdown. Cowboys are actually going to force a FG attempt here.

* SJSU tacks on a 26-yard field goal. That was a 6-play, 66-yard drive that took 2:25 off the clock SJSU 17 Wyoming 7 6:08/ 3Q

* Svoboda missed a wide open Will Pelissier on that 3rd-and-5. By the time he eventually got it to him, SJSU's defenders were on him and the catch was out of bounds. Missed opportunity there.

* Tyrecus Davis nearly picks off a slant pass. Pokes will get off the field here, holding Spartans to a 3-and-out. This will be the home team's first punt of the day

* Svoboda finds Durr all by himself over the middle. That's a gain of 40. Pokes at the SJ 40 just like that

* Another mistake that doesn't show up in the final stats. Four Wyoming players standing at the goal line on that punt. All watch the ball bounce into the end zone. Can't happen. Emmett Brown is now in at QB for the Spartans. He has more than 1,500 yards passing and 16 TDs

FOURTH QUARTER:

* Svoboda badly misses on a screen-pass attempt to Sam Scott. Just an inexcusable interception right there with the Cowboys inside the SJSU 20. SJSU 17 Wyoming 7 11:27/ 4Q

* Anderson just tossed his second pick. This offense is a disaster. SJSU 24 Wyoming 7 1:59/ 4Q

* There’s a 63-yard touchdown strike from Anderson to Gyllenborg. SJSU 24 Wyoming 14 0:43/ 4Q
