Volunteers Needed To Guide Casper Mountain Young Marines Program
The Casper Mountain Young Marines are looking for a new leader. Are you up to the challenge?
The group is a national youth education and service program for kids aged 8 to 18, offering a great way to help them develop character, leadership skills, and self-discipline while also keeping them out of trouble and promoting their overall well-being.
The Young Marines began in 1959 with one unit and a small group of kids in Connecticut and has since grown to over 200 units, serving more than 5,000 children and 1,950 volunteers in 40 states, including the Casper Mountain unit, which was established in 2017.
The Casper Mountain unit is seeking adult volunteers to help maintain the tradition and provide leadership to the kids in Wyoming's only Young Marine unit. Col William P. Davis, USMC (Ret), national executive director and CEO of the Young Marines, says:
We are looking for adult volunteers who display impressive leadership skills and a strong commitment to youth to take over leadership of this accomplished unit, the Casper Mountain Young Marines.
The objective of the Young Marines is straight-forward:
- Promote the physical, moral, and mental development of kids
- Advocate a healthy, drug-free lifestyle through education
- Instill ideals of honesty, fairness, courage, respect, loyalty, dependability, attention to duty, love of god, and fidelity to the U.S.A.
- Stimulate interest and respect for academic achievement and the history and traditions of the U.S.
- Promote physical fitness through physical activities in athletic events and close-order drills.
If you have what it takes to lead the kids and help continue the mission of the Casper Mountain Young Marines, here's your chance to jump into action. Without volunteer leaders, the program may not be able to continue.
