Are you ready for the time to change back to standard time? We're just a couple of days from the end of Daylight Saving Time, and according to the Old Farmer's Almanac, Wyoming is one of the states that would rather stay on Daylight Saving Time.

Coming from a guy who wakes up between 1:30 and 2 am, and goes to bed between 5 and 6 pm, staying in Daylight Saving Time is not the ideal move for me. If we were to stay in DST, the sun wouldn't rise during the winter until around 8:00 or 9:00 a.m., and sunset would be around 5:30 p.m. During the summer, the sun would rise around 4:00 a.m. and set between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m.

I don't know about you, but losing the time change could cause an issue for all of us who've lived our entire lives adjusting to time changes, which is most of the people who are alive today.

Here are six facts about the time changes you may not have known.

  1. Technically, there is no 'S' on the end of Saving in Daylight Saving Time, but since Daylight SavingS Time is so widely used, it's accepted according to Merriam-Webster.
  2. According to LiveScience, the clocks are changed at 2 a.m. because it won't affect many people, businesses, or early morning workers at that time.
  3. Farmers did NOT start DST; they lobbied against it because it took light away from them milking cows and sending their crops to market. DST ended after World War I but resumed after World War II.
  4. Germany was the first country to try DST in 1916.
  5. There are several places that don't observe the time change. Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  6. The time change can be harmful to your health, especially for those who suffer from seasonal depression. According to the Atlantic, when the time changes, so does your sleep cycle, and it turns out that this can be linked to higher risks of heart attacks, car accidents, and malfunctioning medical equipment.
