Casper’s Jack Simms Enters the Wyoming Legion Baseball Hall of Fame in 2024
A longtime proponent of baseball in Wyoming, Jack Simms from Casper, the current State Chairman for Wyoming American Legion Baseball, was inducted into the Wyoming Legion Baseball Hall of Fame this year. Simms was presented his plaque by his son, Josh, at the opening ceremonies for the Wyoming American Legion Baseball AA State Tournament in Casper on July 29.
Simms has been involved with baseball for 57 years in Wyoming. He has coached (32 years), umpired (10 years), and served on various boards (30 years) in numerous capacities throughout his career. Jack has spent time in Casper and Cody. Simms has been part of the Wyoming American Legion State Board for eight years. During his tenure, the Hall of Fame was launched, and the Class A All-Star game began. He started the ‘Wyoming in the Minors’ program that tracks all the players from Legion baseball in the state who have signed a professional contract. Simms also had the foresight to present all the all-state plaques to AA players on the first day of the state tournament and to the A players at the all-star game.
