For the first time in the 2025 high school skiing season, both disciplines will be in action this weekend. Downhill skiers make their season debut this Thursday and Friday on Casper Mountain. Cross-country skiers head to the Sheridan area for the first time on Friday and Saturday.

WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL SKIING SCHEDULE AND RESULTS WEEK 4

The 2025 Alpine skiing season starts with the KWHS Bruce Studer Invitational at Hogadon Basin Ski Resort on Casper Mountain. The first run of the season will feature a giant slalom race on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025. The race starts at 2 p.m. on the Boomerang ski run. Friday will be a slalom race on the Boomerang ski run beginning at 10 a.m. Varsity girls race first, followed by the varsity boys. The second run will go in order of time, except the top ten are reversed in varsity only.

Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, and Pinedale are the schools competing in downhill skiing this week.

THURSDAY RESULTS - GS - varsity results are on pages 2 & 3

MK Lacko of NC won the girls' race at 1:21.57. Brett Lane of Jackson took the boys' race at 1:13.99.

FRIDAY RESULTS - SL - varsity results are on pages 2 & 3

Jackson swept the two races. Annie Moll won the girls' division at 1:44.72. Nico Tozzi won the boys' division at 1:32.29.

Nordic Skiing Has its Third Competition

For the first time, the cross-country skiing teams will compete at the Sheridan Invitational at the Cutler Hills Nordic Trails near the Burgess Junction area on Highway 14 in the Big Horn Mountains.

Friday is a 4km classic race at 1 p.m. The boys race first, followed by the girls. Skiers will start in intervals every 30 seconds. On Saturday, skiers compete on the trails in a 7.1km skate or freestyle race. The race begins at 10 a.m. This race will have a mass start. The varsity girls go first, and then the varsity boys.

The schools competing this weekend are Casper Kelly Walsh, Casper Natrona County, Cody, Jackson, Lander, Laramie, Pinedale, and Sheridan.

FRIDAY RESULTS

Raina Wachob of Cody won the girls' division race at 18:10. Olivia Tolson of Pinedale placed second (18:23), and Kayley Alicke of Sheridan came in third (18:33).

Kalel Brubaker of Natrona County won the boys' race at 14:50. Mack White of Lander finished second (15:42), and Sean-Kyle Taylor of Sheridan took third (15:55).

SATURDAY'S RACE HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO UNSAFE RACE CONDITIONS.
