A 42-year-old Cheyenne man is facing felony charges after allegedly hitting his daughter in the head with a rifle and walking stick.

According to a booking sheet, Thomas Linn Johnson was arrested at 5:51 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 after a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to his home for a physical domestic disturbance involving a weapon.

Domestic Disturbance Call Leads to Felony Charges

The deputy says an investigation revealed Johnson was in a verbal argument with his daughter.

"At one point in the argument Thomas swung a rifle and walking stick he was carrying, which struck (his daughter) in the head causing a minor injury that was bleeding," the deputy said in their probable cause remarks.

Johnson was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident.

He was subsequently charged with child abuse - physical injury and aggravated assault and battery - causes or attempts to cause serious bodily injury, both felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Bond Set at $5K Cash

Johnson made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Tuesday, Oct. 15, during which his bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
