Eric Barlow, Harriet Hageman Cruise To Victory in Wyoming Races
The Associated Press has called the Wyoming gubernatorial race for Eric Barlow and projects that Harriet Hageman will be elected to the U.S. Senate.
Barlow is a Gillette veterinarian and long-time Wyoming legislator who served as Speaker of the Wyoming House before moving over to the state Senate in 2023. He defeated Brent Bien and Megan Degenfelder in the August 18 Wyoming Gubernatorial Primary, and was elected Governor on Tuesday over Constitutional Party Candidate Rebecca Bextel and Democrat Ken Casner.
He will succeed Mark Gordon as Governor of the Cowboy State.
Hageman To Succeed Cynthia Lummis In U.S. Senate
Hageman has been serving as Wyoming's lone representative in the U.S. House since 2022, after finishing third in the 2018 Republican Gubernatorial Primary. She will replace the retiring Cynthia Lummis in the U.S. Senate after defeating Democrat James Byrd of Cheyenne on Tuesday.
She issued a statement on Tuesday saying, "We are about to engage in a battle for the future of this nation, and as we all recognize, the looming fight with the left is about much more than just policy differences. It’s about the very survival of this country as it has been and as we know it. Are we a capitalist nation, or will we slide precipitously into communism? The left hates our founding principles of freedom, just as they hate our strength and prosperity. A strong United States of America embarrasses them, so they aim to tear it all down. And I aim to stand in their way."
