Bears Devour A Picnic And Go Swimming…No One Moves Out Of The Way
I like to think of myself as a positive person.
I like to give others grace and strive to see the best in every situation.
A favorite mantra of mine is, what's terrible now will be funny later.
But, after I watched a recent video of some Bears hanging out at Lake Tahoe along with hundreds of tourists, I found myself really struggling to have anything nice to say.
Let me set the scene for you...
It's a hot Summer day and Lake Tahoe is a popular spot for both locals and tourists to go cool off. It has a beach, forests, and boating.
People generally spend the entire day, so they pack coolers of food to feed their families.
A local bear caught wind of a free lunch (literally) and took her cubs to the beach for a free picnic.
You can see in this picture that people are definitely a bit too close...but it was in a way that didn't fill me with righteous anger.
After I saw that video another one about this same mama bear and her cubs pooped up in my feed.
It was the same day, just a bit later, and she and her cubs went for a post picnic swim.
I'm sure they waited an hour just to be safe.
Take a look at the video and see if you can figure out why I'm so upset about what happened.
Can you BELIVE how close everyone is to those cubs and the mama bear?!
They DID NOT EVEN TRY to give her and her cubs any kind of space.
I tell you what, if this happened at a lake in Wyoming, everyone would be grabbing their stuff and getting out of the way.
And of course, the big concern now is what will happen to that mama bear and her cubs?
Chances are, now that she knows where to find an easy meal (followed by some fun in the sun and a splash in the lake) she'll keep coming back.
And next time the people standing by watching might not be so lucky.
In case you wanted to see it, here is the video of her and her cubs having a picnic lunch.
