Laramie Minors All-Stars Win Little League State Title

The Laramie Minors All-Star team won the 2021 Little League Baseball State Championship on Saturday in Riverton.

Laramie capped a perfect state tournament with a 6-0 victory over Torrington in the title game.

The 9-10-year-old all-stars won their first game last Wednesday over Green River, 13-3. In the victory, Laramie scored at least three runs in all four innings. They finished with 11 hits as a team. Calvin Richardson had three hits and two RBI’s. Gabe Goodspeed added two hits and drove in two runs. Max Markley was the winning pitcher after tossing two innings on the mound.

Last Thursday, the Laramie Minors squad edged Torrington, 6-5. A passed ball and an RBI groundout by Kolton Boo in the fifth inning led to the victory. Laramie jumped out 4-0 in the first inning. They trailed 5-4 as the game entered the bottom of the fifth before their rally. The win put the Minors all-stars in the state championship game.

After a day off on Friday, Laramie played Torrington again, this time for the championship. Richardson threw a two-hit shutout with zero walks and six strikeouts to lead the Laramie Minors team to the title. The 9-10-year-old all-stars took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI fielder’s choice by Goodspeed. Laramie added five runs in the fifth inning. Those came on four hits, an error, a groundout, and a passed ball. Lane Rumsey contributed an RBI single as one of the four hits.

Laramie Majors

The 11-12-year-old all-stars came up one win short of making it a Laramie sweep at the Little League Baseball state tournament in Riverton.

Laramie lost to Cody in the second championship game last Saturday for the right to represent Wyoming at Northwest Regional in San Bernardino, CA.

The Laramie Majors all-stars opened the state tournament with a 9-7 victory over Green River last Wednesday night. Laramie led that game 6-0. Green River came back and tied it in the fourth inning. A three-run fifth propelled the Majors to the victory. Jackson Bailey had two hits and drove in a run. Dax Parvin added a hit and two RBI’s. He also got the win on the mound in relief.

On Thursday, Laramie lost to Cody, 7-5. The 11-12-year-old all-stars trailed 7-2 after the third inning. They rallied in the sixth with three runs but fell short. Parvin and Brock Lehning each had two hits and one RBI.

Last Friday, Laramie shut out Gillette, 10-0, to reach the Little League Baseball state championship game. Maddox Dorrell tossed a one-hit shutout in the victory. He struck out 11 batters and walked only one. On offense, Laramie led 1-0 but opened it up with 8 runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Jackson Murray led the Majors with one hit and three RBI’s. Jackson Bailey and Jackson Rehor added two hits apiece.

On Saturday, Laramie had to beat Cody twice to win the championship.

Step one saw the Majors squad post a 7-4 victory. Laramie rallied with four runs in the sixth inning for the win. Jax McClean had three hits, which included the go-ahead two-run double in the sixth.

Step two didn’t work out like the 11-12-year-old all-stars wanted. Laramie lost 14-1, as Cody exploded for 10 runs in the fourth inning. The Laramie Majors team had just four hits in the second championship game. They also committed five errors in defeat.
