On behalf of everyone in Colorado, THANK YOU to all of the firefighters that came to fight the Cameron Peak Fire.

Colorado's largest fire ever at 208,913 acres was battled by an estimated 5,620 firefighters, officials told Townsquare Media in an email Thursday (Dec. 3).

While 100% containment was reached on Wednesday, more staff will be added in the coming days as crews put the finishing touches by working on suppression repair and rehabilitation.

Firefighters came from nearly every state including Hawaii and Alaska. An official video update in October shared that a crew even came from Puerto Rico — and experienced snowfall for the first time.
