While boating along the Glendo Reservoir in Wyoming, I often wonder about an old school bus, way up on the north shore, just past the canyon.

To see it, boat through the Red Canyon in the Elkhorn Area. Look up on the north shore of the second cove. You'll see it up on a hill just begging you to ask, who left that there?

I've asked if anyone knows anything about this old bus, which looks like it might have been used as a camper, but nobody seems to know anything about it.

Recently, I received some anonymous photos taken by someone who had landed on the north shore and walked up to the old girl.

The reason for the photos being sent to me anonymously was that the photographer was not sure about being on public or private land.

Looking at a Google satellite photos of the area, several trails are seen that could have been used to drive, or drag, the bus to that position, but those trails are so old that they are hard to see in person when standing by the bus.

Ho did it get there?

It seems obvious that this old bus was used as a camper, once we have a look inside.

It looks as if it was intended to remain there and never be driven again.

The tires are long gone, and the engine and gearbox have been stripped out.

To the left side, you can make out what was once a bed.

To the right, it looks like a kitchen was once set up, with a cooler, stove, and sink cutouts.

But even those utilities were stripped out a long time ago, leaving nothing but empty shells to give us clues as to what was once there.

Just a few old, broken gauges.

No steering wheel, no pedals.

It even looks like much of the wiring was stripped out.

So, how old is this old bus?

Thanks to the magic of the internet, there are clues.

With a little more work, or maybe if we can find someone who knows about it, we might find out where she served before she became a camper.

I'd also like to know when was the last time it was last used as a camper at Glendo.

We can tell it's an older model, kind of similar to one we found online below:

This is a 1942 Chevrolet school bus, particularly one bodied by Gillig; it's a notable vintage vehicle, often referred to as a "short bus" due to its relatively compact size.

These buses were commonly used in the 1940s to transport students.

Wyoming's Ceepiest Pet Cemetery

The writing on the stones shows that these people loved their pets so much that they wanted to take special care of them when they died.

Yet, approaching this place looks like something out of a Stephen King novel.
