Casper is in for another round of significant snowfall this weekend, if the National Weather Service's forecast holds true.

A special weather statement issued Thursday afternoon warns of a strong cold front bringing snow and colder temperatures Saturday and Saturday night, with considerable snowfall in some areas such as Casper and Lander.

Temperatures are predicted to fall blow freezing Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. Factoring in the expected snow and wind, NWS forecasters expect hazardous travel conditions to develop in central Wyoming, including the area of I-25 in Natrona County.

In the Casper area, rain should turn to snow Saturday afternoon. While the chance of precipitation is 70% and winds are expected to gust up to 29 mph, less than half an inch of snow accumulation is expected during the daylight hours.

However, Saturday night could bring new snow accumulation of three to five inches as well as a low temperature in the neighborhood of 18 F.

Snow showers are expected to continue through the weekend and possibly into early next week, though the chance of precipitation falls below 50% after Sunday night.

Monday night could see a low temperature in the single digits, around 9 F.
