Suddenly, a question popped into my head. Who was the oldest person to ever live in Wyoming? I have no idea why I thought that, but what the heck, let's look it up.

Her name was Edna Scott. She lived to be 109 years old. As far as we know, she holds the record.

She was born November 24, 1915, and passed away October 9, 2025.

That means she saw a lot of things happen while she was alive and probably had a lot of great stories to tell.

She was not born in Wyoming but rather in Melstone, Montana; she grew up on a local farm. But then again, most people grew up on farms back then.

She lived in Bridger, Montana, where she met her husband, Walter "Walt" Scott, in 1943. They then moved to Powell, Wyoming, where Walt worked in the family plumbing business after serving in World War II.

Edna loved to rockhound and collect fossils. There is plenty of that in Wyoming.

She spent her final years in Worland, Wyoming.

With this information, I went looking for who might be the current oldest person in Wyoming. I could not find any information, so that is a mystery for now.

The oldest fully authenticated person to ever live was Jeanne Louise Calment of France, who reached the age of 122 years and 164 days.

The longest-lived person ever in the United States was Sarah Knauss, who died at the age of 119 years and 97 days.

Looking at the ages of these other people, it looks like Edna is rather high up there in the record books. Shows what clean living will get you.
