Pitchfork Steak? Only In Wyoming
What do you do if you've invited a hundred or so people over for steak and potatoes and you suddenly realize how much meat you have to cook?
What if you deep-fried that steak like some people deep-fried their Thanksgiving turkeys?
Not a bad idea.
Let's make the process as simple as possible.
What if we deep-fried them on a pitchfork?
Wind River Aviation is the new mechanic shop at the airport in Lander, Wyoming.
They were celebrating their grand opening with a big cookout in the hangar.
That's when I saw this guy loading steaks on a pitchfork. WHAT THE HECK?
There were several bags of meat with a marinade sauce inside.
Each huge steak was easily slid down the giant fork into place.
Just like cooking a turkey, the oil has to be at just the right temperature.
The cook knew exactly how long to leave each set of steaks in the oil.
Honestly, have you ever seen a steak cooked like this?
I shared a video of this process with my friends and family, online, and they all asked the obvious question...
HOW DOES IT TASTE?
The meat was cooked to perfection because the cook knew the exact temperature the oil needed to be and how long to leave the meat in.
Each steak was cut into strips to feed as many people as possible.
The only problem I was was that the flavor lacked any seasoning to searing.
It was perfectly cooked... BUT!
Nothing was giving it that extra flavor.
If offered a steak like that again, I would not turn it down.
SO... That's how you feed over 100 people in Wyoming.
