The idea of constructing a wind farm north of Chugwater, Wyoming, has many local Platte County residents up in arms.

According to Wyoming's Platte County Record Times report, Marie Hamilton,

A recent Community Impact Assessment meeting laid bare deep concerns about the looming effects of NextEra Energy’s trio of energy developments — wind, solar, and battery storage — proposed near Chugwater.

Residents, town leaders and emergency personnel packed the community center for nearly an hour of open, unfiltered discussion, revealing the complex web of infrastructure, emergency preparedness and environmental safety issues at stake.

At the center of the meeting was a singular message: Chugwater and its rural neighbors could be overwhelmed without clear, enforceable commitments from developers, such as NextEra Energy.

At the town meeting, every possible detail of the pros, cons, and hazards of such a project was discussed.

Locals expressed frustrations over what seems to be a rushed project with little consideration as to what locals think or want.

Critics also raised concerns about a perceived erosion of public input. “The bylaws for planning and zoning say meetings should be on Wednesdays, but now they’re always on Tuesdays, which is a big conflict for us,” Wheatland resident Lucinda Hutchinson said to commissioners. “It’s hard for working people or those involved in multiple public bodies to attend and voice concerns.” (Platte Record Times).

Questions arise regarding the damage to the region’s agricultural economy, wildlife habitat, and rural character.

There are those who view the project as an economic boost and a step toward green energy.

Three extensive articles have been written, so far, by the Platte Record Times.

Old Medicine Of The Chugwater Wyoming Drugstore

If you visit the tiny town of Chugwater Wyoming you'll find the newly restored Soda Fountain.

In fact it's Wyoming's oldest soda fountain and malt shot.

It's always worth stopping in for breakfast or lunch, or maybe a shake or malt.

The place was a drug store and soda fountain for the longest time.

Back then soda was actually used to cure an upset stomach.

So what sort of old medicines were left behind by Chugwater's last pharmacist?

It turns out, some of them are on display.
