You're from WYOMING? Do you know BOB or Stephany?

Yes, the state of Wyoming is a small town with very long streets. But it's not so small that everybody knows everybody. But it is close to that as the lady in the video below explains.

She points out that on social media, it is often assumed that people from Wyoming know everybody else in the state. The population of the Cowboy State was 587,618 as of 2024. There is no way that any of us can know that many people.

BUT - if you read or watch a social media post, you can usually figure out where they are from without them saying it, she explains. Once you know where they are from, you and figure out if you know anyone from there, and you probably do. Then you just need to find out if they know who you know, which they probably do.

It's rather like The 6 Degrees Of Bacon.

"Six Degrees of Bacon" refers to the popular pop culture game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," based on the "six degrees of separation" theory, where players link any actor to prolific actor Kevin Bacon through movie roles in six steps or fewer, showcasing Hollywood's interconnectedness, with sites like Oracle of Bacon and even Google Search offering tools to find an actor's "Bacon Number".

Perhaps we can call this new rule The 6 Degrees Of Wyoming. Chances are, if you are talking to someone from the other side of the state, they know somebody that you know.

Except for Jackson Hole. That's not real Wyoming.
