Skecthy Wyoming Road Conditions, Wednesday Morning
Snow showers covered the state of Wyoming on Tuesday and into the overnight hours.
How much snow just depended on where you were.
Some places saw a significant amount, some got a trace.
Either way, it left Wyoming roads a little sketchy on Wednesday morning.
The WYDOT map below shows orange roads as sketchy and red roads as closed.
Wednesday's forecast will bring some sun.
That should help clear the roads.
Watch for windy conditions later in the day, which would cause snow drifts across Wyoming roads.
Thursday will be sunny and extra windy.
Friday, more of the same.
There is another chance of light snow across the state on Friday night and Saturday.
This is March, which means the weather changes every five minutes, like that old saying, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes."
Next week brings a high-pressure system and a reprieve.
Expect nice weather for most of the week with warmer temperatures, light winds, and partly cloudy skies.
We are all waiting for that end-of-season big snow event.
One year ago, in mid-March, Wyoming was hit by a massive snowstorm that shut down the state. It usually happens once a year. Will that happen again this year?
According to regional weatherman Don Day, of Day Weather, YES - IT IS COMING!
Up in the most northern regions of our planet the signs are all these. Something is loading.
But this year he figures the big storm will hit us in April, maybe May.
As usual, this time of year the weather in Wyoming is a bit wonky.
It might start as a bright and sunny day, but then suddenly it's snowing, and a half-hour later the sky is clear and the snow is gone, but the wind is howling.
There's an old saying in this part of the country,
"Don't like the weather? Wait five minutes."
It's hard to predict from one moment to the next what the weather is going to do, but one thing everyone in Wyoming knows is - that one big storm has to happen before winter is officially over.
Looking ahead at the 10-day forecast from the time I am writing this article it is typical for this time of year.
Temperatures are in the 50's or so. Lots of fast-moving wind and clouds.
Occasional rain and a touch of snow pass now and then.
The setup for these storms looks like it could be the end of March or early April.
The good news is that there are several storms coming, according to the current forecasts, one after the next, that will give us much-needed spring precipitation, including snowpack.
As for any predictions of THE BIG ONE!
Don Day told me that, while it could happen, it looks like we are going to get a lot of smaller storms this year rather than one big one, and that is how winter will end.
