I took a call during yesterday's morning radio show from a lady who was wondering when the Hotspring pool in Thermopolis Wyoming would be reopened.

I was not sure. So I decided to do some digging.

I did tell her that The Tepee Pool and The Hot Springs Bath House remain open.

But that's not where she likes to go.

She's a fan of the Star Plunge, which has been one of the main attractions at the springs in Thermopolis.

The Plunge closed its doors a month ago due to legal problems linked to a dispute with the state of Wyoming.

The state of Wyoming selected a new company as a park concessionaire. The state has put the place up for auction. The Star Plunge sued the state in response.

The favorite swimming location will remain closed during the legal battle.

A quick look at the Star Plunge website shows this note on the front page.

As of January 14, 2025 the Governor of Wyoming and Hot Springs State Park have unilaterally made the decision to force the closure of Star Plunge.

The Luehne Family would like to express their gratitude to everyone who has supported Star Plunge during their ownership over the past 50 years.

The rest of the website looks the same.

Nothing has been stripped or changed from the days when it was open.

Unlill legal questions can be addressed the Sar Plunge will remain closed.

If the state does go with a new vendor it will mean finding someone, or a company, that would like to run it and has the means to take it over and perhaps even do some upgrades.

Until then, we can still enjoy the other two pools at the Thermopolis Hot Springs.

Beautiful Welded Junk Art

Is that just a rusty pile of old metal junk?
Maybe it's a moose a cowboy or a horse.

It just depends on what you see when you look at it.

This Wyoming-born artist brings junk to live with beauty in motion.
