Students in Albany County Raise Money for Laramie Interfaith
Recently, Whiting High School used a “Penny War” to raise $68.34 for Laramie Interfaith. Whiting students competed for their grades to see who could earn the most money to add to the donation.
The Juniors raised a total of $24.64 to win the contest. The Seniors raised $19.88, the sophomores raised $15.63, and the freshmen raised $8.30.
The “Penny War” was held from January 25 through February 14, and the winning class earned an ice cream party on February 15.
The Whiting Student Council took charge of the fundraiser creating money jars, a poster, announcing the event, and keeping students and teachers involved throughout the fundraiser event.
A member of Laramie Interfaith visited WHS on Mar. 1, to meet students that were involved in the fundraiser and collect the donation.
