Summer Temperatures Return Friday, Sorry Wyoming
I hope you've been enjoying these past few days of cooler temperatures.
A few parts of Wyoming actually saw daytime highs in the lower 50s.
There was snow on the Bighorn Mountains and Bear Tooth Pass was closed by snow for a short while.
This cool blast will slowly come to an end for us by Friday.
While we've been enjoying this natural air conditioning, the United States East Coast is struggling through a heatwave.
The reason for this temperature split down the middle of the country is interesting.
The Western states have had a low-pressure system spinning over it, pulling cold air down from Canada.
The eastern side of the country has had a high-pressure system spinning over it and drawing warm air up from the equator.
Both of those pressure systems will move on.
The next pressure system to influence the Western states will be a high that will park itself below Wyoming.
As it spins it will pull warm air from the south.
The good news is that this should bring a lot of tropical moisture with it.
That might provide us with afternoon thunderstorms.
We could use the rain.
Expect temperatures to rise into the 80s for most of Wyoming by Friday.
Some areas could see the low 90s by the weekend.
After that, it's 80s and 90s back and forth for the foreseeable future.
Below is regional weatherman Don Day's forecast.
The good news is that you'll be able to sleep with your windows open due to some wonderful nighttime coolness.
Mornings are going to be glorious.
Get your outdoor fun out of the way in the early morning hours.
