Sweetwater County Sheriff Seeks Witnesses to I-80 Chase on Tuesday
The Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office is looking for eyewitnesses to a vehicle chase on Interstate 80 early Tuesday morning, according to a news release.
About 5:30 a.m., the Rock Springs Police Department asked for help from sheriff's deputies and Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers to stop a white Ford panel van.
Deputies soon saw the van near the I-80 on-ramp near exit 99.
Authorities pursued the vehicle westbound on I-80 between Rock Springs and Green River, the van's driver crossed the median near mile marker 93, and drove eastbound toward Rock Springs.
Two miles down the road, the van again crossed the median, drove eastbound in the westbound lane for about eight miles, and exited at mile marker 104.
Troopers, police and deputies ended the pursuit after the van exited the interstate and entered residential neighborhoods in Rock Springs.
No one was injured during the chase.
Authorities arrested the suspect on unrelated charges, but the investigation remains active. No further details will be released at this time.
However, the Sweetwater Sheriff's Office is asking for help to identify witnesses and provide information. If you or anyone you know was traveling on the interstate during this time and saw this incident, contact Sheriff's Lt. Joe Tomich at (307) 922-5295.
