Cowboy Joe

In 1950 a tradition began that would change the University of Wyoming, that tradition's name was 'Cowboy Joe'.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself. Earlier this month, a comedian came to the University of Wyoming for a performance and had a couple of jokes at the expense of the UW mascot, Cowboy Joe. And it's almost impossible not to laugh along with the well constructed delivery of the humor behind the comedian's setup.

When Wyoming and Colorado State clash in the 111th Border War Friday night, two of the most iconic mascots in college athletics will be roaming the sidelines. CAM the Ram and Cowboy Joe have been part of the storied rivalry for nearly 70 years.

Sports Illustrated recently ranked the top 10 mascots in college football. Their list includes a red blob, a giant orange, and a tree...but not Wyoming's beloved Cowboy Joe.
