22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich is facing five murder charges and five charges of committing a bias-motivated crime causing bodily injury.

A federal judge has rejected a plea agreement that would have averted a hate crimes trial for the man convicted of murder for shooting Ahmaud Arbery.

The bill would target crimes in which the victim was targeted because of actual or perceived race, color, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, or physical, intellectual or developmental disability.

A bill creating a hate crime law was first introduced in the Wyoming Legislature in 1999, but so far no such proposal has become law in the state.
