Voters in Natrona County can expect to be asked to consider renewing the local loodging tax this November.

The bill is a rather simple piece of legislation that would allow state residents to be exempt from paying lodging taxes in any lodging facility in the state by presenting proof of residency.

While tax bills have generally not fared well this session, a bill to implement a statewide lodging tax was signed into law by Governor Mark Gordon on Friday.

Governor Mark Gordon said in his ''State of the State" speech that he would support a statewide lodging tax.

The revenue would go to promote state tourism and be distributed to the counties and cities where it was collected.

Supporters of the measure say it would raise $20 million to promote the state's tourism industry.

But critics say it also would tax Wyoming residents.
