The weather service says the winter weather could cause hazardous travel conditions.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has began issuing travel advisories as a blanket of snow begins to fall across Wyoming.

Up to a foot of mountain snow combined with winds gusting as high as 50 mph could make for dangerous travel along portions of I-80 in southeast Wyoming tonight.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation suggests 'No Unnecessary Travel' for various parts of Wyoming today, due to snow, slick roads, wind and cold temperatures.

Several inches of snow are possible in southeast Wyoming. Plan on the possibility of slippery road conditions, especially Friday evening.

The advisory covers most of Natrona County and is in effect from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.

The westbound lanes of I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie remain closed, as crews work to reopen roughly 250 miles of highway between Laramie and Rock Springs.

Also included in the advisory area were Evanston, Kemmerer, Laramie, Rock Springs, Riverton, Thermopolis, Buffalo and Douglas.
