All I wanted to do was go see a movie. It was that simple.

But to get there, I had to walk up a long corridor of trucks and cars. In any other state, this would not have been a problem. Imagine if this were Colorado, with all their Teslas.

But this is Wyoming, and there is danger in that parking lot.

Many big pickup drivers like to back their trucks into the parking spot. This actually makes a lot of sense. Backing your car into a parking space makes sense primarily for pedestrian safety, better visibility when pulling out, and a faster, easier exit.

But that means that the pathway I was walking was filled with hazards - trailer hitches.

The first one was easy. Just a single ball, and it was not too far out from the truck. I made it by that one with no problem. But the farther I walked, the worse the hitches became. It was like the universe was testing me.

The more hitches there are and the farther they stick out, the more danger to my kneecaps and shins.

Why do they put these things right at shin or kneecap level?

I see at least three different ways to cripple a person on this next one.

Just when I thought that it could not get any worse, I see this damn thing.

It's a trap!

This driver can't possibly need all of these attachments. They're just trying to injure someone!

Honestly, don't those look like a bunch of pins for grenades?

Well, I made it through. But I was sweating the entire way. Then again, maybe that was the 102 F heat.

Medicine Bow Wyoming Road Art

There’s a strange mind at work in Medicine Bow. Someone equal parts disturbed and delighted, scheming and laughing at the same time. And somehow, they want to pull you into the fun.
