The money will go to support his wife and the family that is on the way. They were expecting a child in about 3 weeks time.

There are other GoFundMe pages. Several are still raising money. One was set up by McCollum’s mother-in-law, Jill Crayton, and has raised more than $160,000 while the other, set-up by an unknown organizer, has topped $350,000.

McCollum was just 20 years old.

He was one of the 13 U.S. military personnel who died in the horrific Kabul bombing Thursday that left nearly 200 Afghans dead and hundreds more injured. \

McCollum was born on Feb. 26, 2001, in Riverton, Wyoming, and spent his childhood between the cities of Dubois and Jackson.

For enjoyment, besides the great outdoors. he was into wrestling, mixed martial arts, and American history, training younger kids in the brawling sport.

McCollum’s goal after the Marines was to become a history teacher and wrestling coach, according to his father.

From an early age, he loved the military and wanted to join. His family said that he always planned to enlist and did at age 18.
