The TV show The Rifleman was set in the New Mexico Territory in the 1880s.

In a 2-part series of the old TV show, our hero travels to Wyoming, on a mission to solve a case for the U.S. government.

After his herd is wiped out by hoof-and-mouth disease, McCain agrees to serve as an undercover detective for the U.S. government in order to raise enough cash to buy more cattle.

He travels to Wyoming to learn the source of the repeating rifles that have fallen into the hands of rebellious Cheyenne Indians. (IMDB).

PART 1.

Lucas agrees to take a job as an undercover agent and goes to investigate rumors of the sales of arms to renegade Indians. His life is endangered by the town drunk who stumbles onto his true identity.

In this episode he leaves his home in New Mexico, and travels to Wyoming to solve the mystery.

PART 2

While Lucas is in Wyoming on the trail of a gang illegally selling weapons to the Indians, Mark stays with Miss Milly, where he suffers from loneliness and doubt with his father gone for 2 months.

The Rifleman was a popular American Western TV series that aired on ABC from 1958 to 1963.

The show was about a single father and rancher, Lucas McCain, and his son, Mark, in the fictional town of North Fork, New Mexico.

Today, superhero moves and TV shows dominate the public's imagination.

Back in the 50s and 60s, it was westerns.

The Rifleman was a popular and enduring Western that ran for five seasons and 168 episodes.

The show's popularity has continued into the 21st century.
