Weird New Rodeo Games For A Modern World
Rodeos have been around for a long time and have not changed much.
Cowboys and girls compete in competitions that are normal jobs on a ranch, such as calf roping.
Now and then, someone adds a new twist.
A recent rodeo in Chugwater, Wyoming, saw a ranch team try to herd cattle into a trailer—a modern take on an old job.
So why stop there?
Here are a few modern rodeo ideas.
STUCK MUD TRUCK. Turn the center of the arena into a giant mud puddle and get a pickup stuck in it. One lone cowboy must get his truck unstuck without having to call for help, which is embarrassing.
CELL CONNECTION. Competitors must find the high spot, including climbing on top of their truck, to get cell service out in the middle of nowhere.
ATV BARREL RACING. Using ATVs and other small off-road vehicles, competitors must race around barrels much like they do with horses. They will be judged on time and how they keep their vehicles under control.
THE COFFEE SPILL. Competitors must drive down a rutted and potholed road with the steering wheel in one hand while drinking coffee with the other. High scores are given to the most coffee consumed and the least spilled.
HAY BAIL BED TOSS. Competitors must drive with the tailgate up, hay bales in the back, and hit potholes, to toss hay out of the back. Closest to the assigned targets wins.
I'm sure you can come up with more, and I would love to read them.
