Weird Summer Cool Front Hits Wyoming This Week
Get your sweaters out. Not kidding.
Wyoming and the regions have been experiencing typical summer-like temperatures for the past several weeks.
But by the end of this week, much of Wyoming and states to the east will have a sudden chill, almost like fall has arrived.
No, we are nowhere near fall.
What is about to happen is just an anomaly.
But not too weird. It has been known to snow in Wyoming in the middle of summer.
Watch a full explanation of this weird cool front in Don Day's video, below.
Expect typical summer-like conditions for Monday and Tuesday.
Then we drop into the 80s for Wednesday, with a welcome uptick in rain.
The door then opens for cool air from the north and tropical moisture from below us to meet in the middle.
That middle is Wyoming and Colorado.
Suddenly the eastern side of Wyoming will drop down into the low 70s, and in some places the upper 60s.
For those who live on the western side of Wyoming, so sorry. You won't be participating.
Our Wyoming mountains will keep that cool air just to one side.
That doesn't mean that the western side of Wyoming won't be cooler. But they will still think it's summer.
This break is welcome for several reasons.
We are sick of the heat, is one.
But there are also some wildfires burning in eastern Wyoming that really do need this cooldown and rain.
If you think back, this has been a cooler-than-average summer.
Hot temperatures arrived very late.
When it finally did warm up it was quite a while before we finally saw what we consider typical summer temperatures.
Now, we see this drop.
But don't get used to it.
We are still a long way away from fall.
