It's hard for thin people to live in Wyoming.

NO - not because fat people make fun of them.

Well, fat people in Wyoming DO make fun of thin people, but only when they see them picked up by Wyoming's famous winds and sent tumbling down the street.

With gusts up to 70-plus miles an hour at times, you can see why not having a little extra weight can be a problem.

Scuba divers wear belts with weights on them to help them sink and stay underwater.

In much the same way, thin people who live in Wyoming wear weight belts to keep them on the ground.

They don't have to wear these belts all year round. Just during with windy season.

Below is an actual photo of a thin Wyoming woman getting blown away.

She was found 2 days later in South Dakota. She's okay.

In much the same way, you'll see a couple of those tiny Smart Cars driving around Wyoming. But only during the non-windy season.

Being fat in Wyoming has other advantages.

It's much easier to tolerate the cold months when a person has a little extra natural padding on them.

Wind plus cold, and a person starts to wish they weighed maybe another 50 extra pounds.

The problem with all of this is that Wyoming is the kind of state that keeps a person active, both at work and at play.

Therefore, we don't have that many fat people here.

We have some, but not as many as some other states.

So, you see, there are advantages to weight gain when you live in a place like Wyoming.

While you're at it, buy a heavier car.
