Why is America still buying Russian oil?

Sanctions against Russia's oil exports — including a possible ban on importing Russian oil into the U.S. — would both elevate worldwide gas prices and stoke domestic inflation. (AXIOS).

All the president has to do it get government out of the way and let American oil companies do what they do best.

So why won't the president do it?

Biden Promised To End New Drilling On Federal Land, (July 13th, 2021 NPR).

Biden campaigned last year on pledges to end new drilling on federal lands to rein in climate-changing emissions. His pick to oversee those lands, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, adamantly opposed drilling on federal lands while in Congress and co-sponsored the liberal Green New Deal.

Biden pauses new oil and gas leases amid legal battle over cost of climate change. (CNBC).

  • The Biden administration is delaying decisions on new oil and gas leases and permits after a Louisiana federal judge blocked officials from using higher cost estimates of climate change.
  • The leasing pause is an unintended result of the Feb. 11 decision by U.S. District Judge James Cain, who argued that the administration’s attempt to raise the real cost of climate change would hike energy costs.
  • The ruling has prompted delays and uncertainty across at least four federal agencies that were using higher cost estimates of greenhouse gas emissions in decisions.

Nobody is really happy with Russia right now. Yet here we are in energy-rich America, importing oil from them. Now, someone wants Russian uranium too?

Just like oil we obviously have enough uranium in Wyoming to fuel this power plant, once it's built.

The trick is to make Wyoming uranium the most accessible and affordable source.

It would make sense that the uranium needed should come from Wyoming as the best source. But there are some hurdles to overcome. Federal regulations among them.

Biden OKs release of 30 million barrels of oil from Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the headline reads. (Kansas Reflector).

But that is nothing more than a very short term fix for a much longer term problem.

Besides, the Strategic Reserve is supposed to be for out military, in time of war, not domestic consumption to reduce prices.

President Biden’s advisers are discussing a possible visit to Saudi Arabia this spring to help repair relations and convince the Kingdom to pump more oil. (AXIOS).

"DRILL BABY DRILL!" Palin said during the debate.

Senator Biden responded that drill baby dill did not make sense since it took 10 years to extract oil once it was found.

But it only takes that long when the federal government is in the way. Let drilling happen. Open those pipelines.

We saw that during the oil boom in North Dakota, which was happening on private land. The feds had very little involvement, so rigs were popping up in under a month and sucking oil out of the ground.

So why won't President Biden look to America and just do the simple thing by getting government out of the way?

The president has yet to explain himself, and he needs to.
