Wyoming, Seen From Space
If I were to show you a video or picture of Wyoming from space, how much of the Cowboy State would you recognize?
Let's take a look at Wyoming from far above with several videos that are now posted on YouTube.
The first one is from a balloon. This is a 360 video, so you can use your mouse or your phone to look around. So don't just sit still, turn the image and scan the area.
This is a high-altitude balloon that was launched from Dubois K-12 School in Dubois, WY, in October 2024. Students from the school flew payloads carrying science experiments. At altitude, the video presents incredible overhead views of the Wind River, Absaroka, Gros Ventre, and Teton mountain ranges. Wyoming's highest mountain, Gannett Peak (13,810 ft), is also clearly visible. Other features of interest include the Grand Teton, Yellowstone Lake, and the Pack Trail wildfire.
This next video is a little disappointing, but worth a quick look. Take a ride aboard the International Space Station in this real-time orbital timelapse stitched from thousands of high-resolution images. This stunning sequence captures the ISS flying directly over a spectacular arc of Earth, starting from the United States → Cuba → Haiti → Venezuela → Brazil.
Another view is a bit lower and well worth it. It comes from Wyoming PBS, and it's called Over Wyoming.
WyomingPBS takes cameras aloft to explore the sweeping beauty of the Cowboy State and finds etched on the land, history as vast as its horizons and human stories as intricate as its streams. Narrated by Pete Simpson.
